About

The UFO Initiative was born because I became paralyzed by the number of unfinished objects (UFOs) in my crafting spaces. I’d tell myself, “You shouldn’t start something new when there are so many projects that you haven’t finished yet.” So I wasn’t doing much of anything.

So I made a rule: I can’t start a new project until I have made significant progress on or finished a UFO.

The “significant progress” rider exists for a good reason. Many of my UFOs are big projects — knitted afghans and coats, for example — that I would leave as UFOs forever if I had to finish them the next time they were picked up. Because I don’t want to limit myself to small projects only, I made this rider part of The Initiative.

The blog is not about bragging or  keeping myself honest. It’s just to document my progress.

Also, let me point out that rules are not laws. If I want to step outside The Initiative, I will. I’ll just document it.
